Greenwood Remodel and Backyard Retreat

Seattle, Washington

This Green Lake home was an awkward combination of three different roofs and was suffering from years of not having a proper foundation. The owners wanted to transform the exterior appearance into a more modern home while maintaining the character of a classic Northwest bungalow. Their two main requirements were a shed for storage space and an outdoor living area protected from the elements. In addition, a small office and laundry room were added.

Project Highlights

  • The covered patio features an exposed timber frame and can accommodate a dining table and small living space.
  • Skylights have been incorporated for natural light, complemented by additional can lights for added brightness.
  • Heaters and fans have been installed to make the space usable any time of year, in any type of weather.
  • The shed doubles as a workshop and storage area. The roof design includes an attic layer, maximizing storage space.
  • Eco-friendly metal siding was chosen for its durability, cost-effectiveness and clean appearance.
